On the 21st-22nd of September the 1st “Défi Kite” of history took place in Gruissan: 20km at full speed Gruissan-Port la Nouvelle-Gruissan.
On the historical spot of the “Défi Wind” where over 1000 windsurfers stood at the start line, this year 110 kite surfers were ready to challenge with the famous wind “the Tramontane”.
European and world champions – Antoine Albeau, Julien Kerneur & Maxime Nocher, speed record men – Alexandre Caizergues, Geoffrey Mascarell & Sylvain Hoceini – and many other kitesurfing addicts were ready for the show.
The wind was at the rendez-vous and Benjamin Petit, from the French team Alixa, with his Edge 2013 7m was determined to reach the podium. He ended 3rd but, surprise for all riders.. as means “Défi” another round took place with 40km. Benjamin ended 2nd. To have a great show, another round is added – 20km – and Benjamin took his Edge 2013 10m as the wind was weaker. He ended 5th but happy with final results: 3rd at Scratch and 1st at Master +40 years.
“Thank you to Ozone for the perfect Race kite… The Edge!”
