just back from Norway where we attended the famous RedBull Ragnarok Snowkite Endurance race up on the Hardangarvidda plateau. 200 starters on Ski or Snowboard, 12km laps, 3-8 knot winds, Sun, hard Snow – get the message? Yes – CHRONO time!!!
18 & 15m Chrono were the ticket while most tube kites didn’t even get off the ground or couldn’t relaunch anymore we where pulling away. The course had 5 marks to pass and was set through and on top of the hills so it was great fun playing with the terrain and pulling some good tactical decisions so you didn’t end up in windless spots etc.
A good start was key as the wind almost died out completely on the first mark which gets quite spectacular when you have 200 kiters there at the same time also…I was leading from the start with Flo and Felix on the 15m Chronos in my back but could extend the gap after the first round by 5 min already. After 6 tiring but really fun laps and 2:11 hours I crossed the finish line first. Kitesurf Course Race World Champion Flo Gruber came in 2nd after 9min followed by Felix Kersten. Sigve Botnen – Ozone Team Rider since day one and snowkite legend who also won the first and second Ragnarok got his hands onto the Chrono 15m also and was leading the fleet in the snowboard category big time with a 13 min gap to the 2nd place!
So total CHRONO domination once again in the race circus… all stoked.
Cheers from Ozone Team at Ragnarok Sigve, Flo & Dom
