The Afterburner is Ozone's fastest parawing, with the best upwind performance they've built. A high-aspect, high cell count canopy and an all-new ultra-light Monobloc Carbon bar let you hammer upwind from where you parked, then link swells all the way back on the longest downwinders possible. No downwind shuttle required. It's not for everybody, but it might be for you.
"The Afterburner feels like a mix between a foil kite, wing and a parawing. The low end is solid, similar to the Pocket Rocket V2, but at the top end the Afterburner is in a league of its own and feels so good when you're locked in and experiencing the rush of flying fast over the water."
— Dom Zimmermann, Ozone Lead Designer
Why the Afterburner
- Max upwind, warp speed — high aspect-ratio for more forward drive, built to make the biggest upwind gains on the market
- Huge wind range — the same low-end power as the Pocket Rocket V2, with far greater top-end control
- Smooth overhead drive for tacking — the easiest tacking Ozone has delivered in a parawing
- Next level connection — all-new Monobloc Carbon control bar, only 90g
- Designed for hooked-in riding — ships with a 25cm Fixed Loop Harness Line attached to the bar
Who It's For
Riders with decent stashing technique who want to cover serious distance. The Afterburner stashes and redeploys well, but its higher rib count and bridle layout need a little more care than the PowerPack or Pocket Rocket V2. It's built for long, committed downwind runs rather than rapid stash-and-deploy sessions.
Canopy & Aerodynamics
- Single surface design pushed to the next level — increased cell count and fully supported rib structure for perfect load spread and an ultra-clean canopy
- Clean, rock-solid leading edge for superloaded sessions, reinforced with flexible lightweight battens
- Minimal canopy flap when sheeted out — reduced drag and higher depower efficiency
- Transverse sail shaping on the leading edge for cleaner airflow and a better lift-to-drag ratio
- Trailing edge V-shrink tabs — fewer brake lines and grunty low-end power
- Lightweight tabs reduce weight, bulk and drag
Bridles
- Bridle length balanced between maximum aerodynamic performance and good stashability
- Thinner Kevlar lines on the upper level to reduce drag
- Thicker, stiffer mid-level and riser lines (as on the Pocket Rocket V2 and PowerPack) for rash and tangle-free stashing and redeployment
- Centre front line riser for lower hand forces and quicker reach to the canopy
- Colour-coded lines with spliced loop-to-loop connections that glide through your hands
Monobloc Carbon Control Bar
- Ultra-light at just 90g, 35cm long for an ideal balance of easy stashing and wing control
- Textured EVA grip with index finger front overhang for comfort and depower control
- A-line protection nub acts as a stopper between index and middle fingers
- Thumb rest on the bar end for enhanced comfort and feel
